Little Legends Terms of Service

Welcome to Little Legends! We make personalized children's storybooks using AI, then print and ship them through trusted print partners. These Terms are the agreement between you and Little Legends App LLC ("Little Legends," "we," "us") when you use our website or services (the "Services"). Please read them — they cover your rights, our responsibilities, and a few important legal bits.

1. Accepting these Terms
By using the Services — including building a book, uploading a photo, or placing an order — you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms. Before you upload a photo, we'll also ask you to tick a box confirming you're an adult and that you have the right to provide the child's information (see Sections 2 and 3). If you don't agree, please don't use the Services.
2. Who can use Little Legends
You must be 18 or older to use the Services, create a book, upload anything, or make a purchase. Little Legends is for parents, guardians, and other adults (for example, someone buying a gift) — children are the heroes of our stories, but they don't use the site themselves and may not create accounts or place orders. By using the Services, you confirm you're at least 18.
You can browse and build a book as a guest. If you create an optional account, you're responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account, and you agree your information is accurate.
3. Children's information & parental consent
Our books feature a child, so we receive a little information from you — a first name or nickname, an age, and (if you choose) a photo, which may include children or other people. Before you upload a photo, we ask you to confirm you have permission to use it:
"I have permission for each person, child or adult, whose photo I upload, and I agree to Little Legends' Terms of Service and Privacy Policy."
We handle children's information carefully and in line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). How we use, store, retain, and delete this information — including that we delete original uploaded photos within 7 days — is explained in our Privacy Policy. We don't knowingly allow children to create accounts or place orders.
4. The photos and details you provide
When you upload a photo or provide your child's details, you give Little Legends a limited license to use them only to (1) create your personalized book and (2) generate and save your child's illustrated character so you can reuse it for future books, for as long as you keep it saved. We delete your original uploaded photos within 7 days (see the Privacy Policy), and we do not use your photos or your child's character to train AI.
You promise that:
- You have permission to use the photo and details of each person (child or adult) you upload — and for any child shown, you're their parent or legal guardian or have that person's permission;
- You have the right to upload what you upload; and
- Your uploads don't infringe anyone's rights and don't contain unlawful, harmful, hateful, or offensive content.
You're responsible for the content you provide, and we may decline or remove anything that breaks these Terms.
5. AI-generated content
Our stories and illustrations are created with the help of AI. That means:
- AI can occasionally produce errors, surprises, or results that differ from what you expected. You can review and edit your book before ordering.
- Because the content is AI-generated, some general story elements, phrasings, or art styles may appear in other families' books too — your book is personalized to your child, but it isn't built from elements that are exclusive to you.
6. Who owns what
Your book is yours. You own the finished, personalized book we create for you — your child's name, their illustrated character, and the story and images assembled into your book — for your personal use. You're free to print it, reorder it, download it, and share it with family and friends, and to keep it for as long as you like.
What we own. Everything that makes Little Legends work stays ours (or our licensors'): our website, software, templates, story frameworks, illustration styles, underlying AI models and prompts, logos, and brand. Owning your book doesn't transfer any rights to these.
Please keep it personal. Because our books are made as family keepsakes, you agree not to resell your book, use it commercially, or copy or reuse our underlying templates, styles, characters, or other materials to compete with us or for any commercial purpose, without our written permission.
Improving our stories. As described in our Privacy Policy, we may use de-identified story text — with names and identifying details removed — to improve our storytelling. We don't use your photos or your child's illustrated character for this, and we don't use identifiable information about any child to train AI.
7. Acceptable use
Please use Little Legends fairly. You agree not to:
- Upload content you don't have the rights to, or that's unlawful, harmful, hateful, or infringing;
- Misuse, copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the Services or our technology;
- Resell or commercially exploit the Services or our content; or
- Use the Services to harm anyone or violate any law.
We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these rules.
8. Payments, orders & fulfillment
- You agree to pay the prices shown at the time you order, plus any taxes and shipping.
- Orders are produced and shipped by trusted third-party print partners (including Lulu and Pint Size Productions).
- Printing and shipping timelines are estimates, and we're not responsible for delays or errors caused by third parties (like carriers or printers), though we'll always help make things right (see Section 9).
- We may update prices, products, and features over time.
9. Our Happiness Guarantee
We want you to love your book. If you're not happy with it, email us at support@littlelegends.app within 30 days of receiving it and we'll make it right — a free remake or a refund. If your printed book ever arrives damaged or misprinted, we'll always remake or refund it.
10. For entertainment and enjoyment
Little Legends books are made for fun and family keepsakes. They aren't educational, therapeutic, medical, or professional advice, and AI-generated stories may include mistakes, inconsistencies, or language that differs from your expectations.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent allowed by law, we don't promise the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate, and we disclaim warranties not expressly stated in these Terms. (This doesn't take away rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law.)
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Little Legends and its partners won't be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim relating to the Services won't exceed the amount you paid for the book or product the claim is about.
13. Indemnification
You agree to cover (indemnify) Little Legends for claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from content you upload or provide, or from your misuse of the Services or breach of these Terms.
14. Termination
You can stop using the Services at any time, and you can delete your account and data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or to protect the Services or other users. Sections that should survive (like ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute resolution) continue to apply after termination.
15. Governing law & dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. We hope never to have a dispute — but if we do:
- Arbitration. Most disputes will be resolved by binding, individual arbitration rather than in court, except that either of us may bring an individual claim in small-claims court.
- No class actions. You and Little Legends agree to bring claims only on an individual basis and waive the right to participate in class actions.
- 30-day opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing us at support@littlelegends.app within 30 days of first accepting these Terms; if you opt out, disputes will be handled by the courts in California instead.
16. Changes to these Terms
Little Legends is growing, and we may add features or update these Terms. When we make changes, we'll post the updated Terms and revise the effective date, and we'll give notice of material changes. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the new Terms.
